Texas Country Music Hall of Fame & The Tex Ritter Museum

In addition to visiting the Footprints in the Sand Monument in Carthage, you should consider visiting the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame as well. This 13,000 square foot facility has exhibits, a gift shop, and a banquet room. Click here to see their website with up-to-date information.

The Jukebox

Inside the museum is an area where you can sit and listen to hits from some of the artists featured in the museum.

Jim Reeves

Another fun exhibit is the mock radio station dedicated to Jim Reeves, the famous East Texas disc jockey and singer.

The Tex Ritter Museum

A large part of the exhibits include part of the Tex Ritter Museum. Not only did Ritter make movies, but he worked on Broadway, hosted radio and tv shows, and sang the Academy Award winning theme song from High Noon.

John Ritter

As a preteen of the late 1970’s, I laughed at the comedic antics of John Ritter on Three’s Company, though my first exposer to him was as the preacher on The Waltons. I didn’t realize that he was the son of the famous Tex Ritter and supported the establishment of this museum that honors his dad. This small exhibit honors the man who died way too soon.

Closing Thoughts

If you are a country music fan, this small museum is worth a stop to see the exhibits full of memorabilia from artist like Willie Nelson, Kenny Rogers, and others who are not as famous.
