Rise and Shine: Exploring Hunter’s Point with a Beautiful Sunrise Hike

If you are camping at Fort Wilkins State Park and would like to take a sunrise hike, you should take the short drive to Hunter’s Point for a breathtaking view of crashing waves against the sunrise.

Hunter’s Point Park is about 3 miles or 8 minutes away from the campground. We left well before the sun would rise. We arrived at the large parking lot and had to decide whether to take the North Trail or the South Trail.

North Trail

We decided to take the North Trail, which was the perfect choice as you can see the sunrise better on that side. The North Trail alternates between forest and rocky beaches

Sunrise

We found a great viewpoint to sit and watch the beautiful sunrise.

South Beach

We went back on the South Beach Trail, though to be honest the two trails often cross each other. This side of the peninsula was so much more peaceful than the north side. We walked along a serene cove watching the ducks floating on the calm water..

Final Thoughts

This easy hike would be nice anytime, but if you can, try walking the trail at sunrise. This hike caused me to think about Walking the Trails of Life and our different paths in this life.

This website concentrates on where we go and what we do. If you are a Christian and are interested in travel-inspired spiritual themes, check out my Substack newsletter and The Rest Stop Podcast.
