Michigan Magic: Experiencing the Allure of Copper Harbor

While camping at Fort Wilkins State Historic Park, we took a day and explored the magic of Copper Harbor.

Bakery Magic

We started our day with a sunrise hike to Hunter’s Point. Afterward, we stopped by Jamsen’s for some hot chocolate and coffee and one of their turnovers.

If you are interested in visiting Isle Royale National Park, the ferry leaves from behind Jameson’s. You need to do your research because Isle Royale is very rugged and the ferry schedule can be affected by the weather.

Magical Shopping

We had fun shopping around town, especially at The Country Village Shops. We enjoyed listening to the owner give the history of the building and share with us the stories behind all of the artifacts in her shop.

Another great find was Grandpa’s Barn. This rather plain exterior hides a fabulous bookstore. He hosts visiting authors, workshops, and book clubs as well! If I lived in the area, I would definitely be a regular customer.

If you are in the area, stop in Copper Harbor for a while and experience this small town’s magic.
