Hidden Gem: Synergy Park

I love to look for hidden gems, especially places for walking and picnics. Here in Kilgore, we have a place called Synergy Park. J.D. Elder and his brother acquired this land at the end of World War I, moving their timber mill to the site. The Kilgore Economic and Development Corporation created a business park on part of the land, but have done a superb job of preserving this beautiful park.

Picnics

Visitors can enjoy a picnic at various concrete picnic tables around the park or in the Amanda S Nobles Pavilion. The pavilion was built on the site of J.S. Elder house site. The house burned in the 60’s, but the fireplace remains.

Hiking

Locals enjoy hiking around the nearly one mile trail around the mile, as well as the extension across the road.

Fishing

The 10 acre lake is stocked periodically with catfish, bass and trout. Daily limits are listed on the boards near the lake.

As you travel with the Father, see if you have a local gem you can enjoy periodically. I would love for you to share it in the comments.
